I am a textile artist living on the Suffolk Essex border. I am a member of the Out of the Fold Textile Group and East Anglian Stitched Textiles (EAST) I am the Principal Tutor for Creative Stitch which offers courses in Creative Patchwork and Quilting and Creative Stitch Textiles. I teach each year at the Knitting & Stitching Shows and Festival of Quilts. I also offer workshops and talks to groups throughout the UK in person and via zoom. I am also a member of the QGBI and the specialist Contemporary Quilt Group and STARS (formerly Suffolk West Embroiderers Guild)

Inspiration for a new series?

 

A fantastic discovery on a recent trip to Dorset - the chained library at Wimborne Minster

I need to do lots of research and maybe more visits to other chained libraries in the UK. I know there are other chained libraries in Wells Cathedral and Hereford Cathedral.







I am sure there are stories to discover about the books, the authors, the scribes, the collectors and the buildings.

I look forward to finding out more.














Will it result in a new series of textile work?

Too early to tell. But I shall enjoy the research and hopefully something exciting will emerge.

    Interesting possibilities. There is an introduction and list in Wikipedia. Nearest to you is Trinity Hall. I'm sure that there are others, mostly in cathedrals, which don't always make libraries available to the public. For example I'm sure I saw chained books in Winchester Cathedral but this was a private tour I arranged for
    a Russian librarian. Worth enquiring in Durham. I can't think of possibilities in London.
