The Autumn Challenge for STARS (formerly Suffolk West Embroiderers' Guild) was for each member to make an embroidered work; any size, any style, any technique, using a piece of silk.
This was the original silk, from Walters Mill in Sudbury. Chosen for the suggestion of stars in the weave. Everyone had a piece approx. 7" x 10"
Several wool blankets were given as wedding presents to my parents in 1962 and used on beds for many years before being replaced by duvets. They are now part of my legacy as my mother has moved into residential care.
The embellished surface has then had some hand stitching and beading added.
It s hoped to show all the STARS challenge pieces at an exhibition later in the year. Logwood Legacy is also the first of my series of 'Wool - Cotton - Silk being made for the Stitch 21 group exhibition in July 2022
