Life's a bleach

Sunday workshop at the Cosy Cabin in Risby playing around with discharge paste and bleach - my current favourite technique

My first magazine article

The new April/May edition of Stitch Magazine contains my Paper Mania technique. This combines painted newspaper with sheer organzas layered on top, stitched and burned away with a soldering iron. Image was taken from a photograph of a sunflower in my garden. Mounted onto a canvas textured with gesso and coloured with ink.

Paper Mania - sunflower

Paper Mania - pink daisy

Golden Wedding

Just made a quilt for my Aunt and Uncle's Golden Wedding - I was their bridesmaid when I was 2 (now you all know how old I am) in 3 days.
Simple nine-patch and hour glass block combo. 48" square.
Day one - pieced the top
Day two - layered up and quilted
Day three - binding and hand quilting

Quilters Guild Workshop

We had a lovely day at Mundford with a Texture Adventures workshop for a the Quilters Guild. We had members from Region 9 (Cambs and Norfolk) and Region 8 (Suffolk and Essex) and even some intrepid travellers from Region 7 (Herts)

Everyone worked in their own chosen colour way to produce a nice variety of designs. Here they are at the end of the day.

Copperplate

Tin Hut Textiles exhibited at the Textiles in Focus event at the weekend and I had 3 new pieces on display. All are made using the 'Life's a Bleach!' techniques which I teach at workshops but this time with added applique of sheers which are stitched and burnt back.

Christmas is coming

Preparing for the Christmas themed workshop coming up at Cottenham College on 22nd November. We will be making either an Advent Calendar (see image) or a Christmas table runner or table mats.

Feels a bit odd making Christmas things whilst it is still 20 degrees outside
