Spotlight Textiles Exhibition at Snape Maltings

I am really enjoying being part of the Spotlight Textiles exhibiting group formed by studetns who completed the Creative Stitch Advanced Textiles course in 2020. Each member has their own distinctive style.

Our next exhibition 'Spotlight on.....Heritage' opens at the Pond Gallery, Snape Maltings, Suffolk IP17 1SP on Friday 28th April and runs until Wed 3rd May 2023.

My 'Heritage' inspiration is provided by inherited items discovered when clearing out my mother's house after she went into residential care. They include these blue paper embroidery transfer designs.

The resulting fabrics have been partially stitched and pieced using the pojagi method. This piece 'Transfer of Affection' was first shown at the Textiles East Fair in February 2023 and will be exhibited again at Snape.

Also inherited, this time from my Great Grandmother (via my Mother) were a pair of her handmade bloomers which were trimmed with lace. Tiny waist!

The lace trim has been combined with lots of other lace from my stash collected over many years to make another pojagi technique piece called 'White Collar Work'

Please come along to the exhibition to see the completed piece.

I will be stewarding alongside the lovely Yvonne Romain on Sat 29th and Sunday 30th from 10am until 4pm if you would like to come and say hello.
