The ‘dark’ corner

This just makes me laugh. Next to Ruth Issett and all her wonderfully bright colours my black corner stand just looks so dreary. Time for some colour Mary.

Beginnings of a new series?

I had such a lovely time at K&S at Harrogate playing with some ideas around layering up images using paper lamination and screenprinting with inks onto a variety of lightweight fabrics. It is not there yet - it is all just too light and bright for my murky palate sensibilities but I do think there is something to be developed here.

 The first layer is screen printed onto a dyed cotton fabric base using inks and readymade thermofax screens

This layer is screen printed onto a silk organza which gives a lovely light transparency

This layer is using a combination of paper lamination of all sorts of painted papers with screen printed images on top

 And finally adding some colour using Koh-I- Noor Dye paints

Off to Knitting & Stitching Show in Harrogate. I will be ‘in action’ on Friday 29th Nov playing with paper lamination and printing to build up transparent layers.

Bit late in posting this but it has been a busy few weeks. I had a great time at the Knitting and Stitching Show at Elexandra Palace in October working as part of the Artists in Action zone.

Used the day, and the kit supplied by ArtVanGo, to explore some new ideas around layering up images using paper lamination, printing onto sheers and dyed and discharged fabrics. Early days yet and it is still a bit heavy but I feel a new series coming on....................
