Cross Words

Thank you to friends who donated newspapers to get me started on a new 'Playing with Pojagi' project.

I spend a happy 5 days away at https://quiltretreatuk.co.uk/ working on this piece.Great venue, fantastic food, and fabulous company.

Using my favourite paper lamination technique to convert newsprint into stitchable fabric. Thanks to Ali for the photo. (Apron from when my son worked as a Saurday boy on the bakery counter in approx 2016)

Eventually, after three solid days of  lamination, soaking, scrubbing, and generally making a right old mess, we have 169 squares ready to be stitched

The first of a very many stitched squares. The answers will 'Unfold' as the clues are solved. This piece will be exhibited as part of the Out of the Fold 'Unfolding' exhibition at The Guildhall, Bury St Edmunds from 3rd to 8th October 2023

White Collar Work

The latest piece in my 'Playing with Pojagi' series was fully revealed at the Spotlight Textiles exhibition at Snape Maltings.

Pojagi is an ideal technique to show off double-sided materials such as these lovely old vintage lace and collars. The piece looks almost as good from the back.

The Pojagi piecing method with felled seams is also a great way of combinign fabrics of different weights and I will continue to explore this in further 'Playing with Pojagi' work

'Playing with Pojagi' will be the title of my solo exhibition in the Quay Gallery at Snape in October 2023 with lots more new work to show
